Meeting Madiba

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela is one of the greatest icons of peace and reconciliation of our time. Affectionately referred to as Madiba (his Xhosa clan name), this first democratically elected president of a post-apartheid South Africa is still one of the most sought after people to visit or interview for any journalist or VIP visiting South Africa.

Although Nelson Mandela is old and very frail now and doesn\'t make many public appearances, the warmth and charisma that this amazing man exudes is still very evident.

Constitutional Court of South Africa
The Constitutional Court of South Africa, the highest court in the land, was born of the country\'s first democratic Constitution in 1994. In an acclaimed new building on the site of he Old Fort, located on Constitution Hill in Johannesburg, the 11 judges stand guard over the Constitution and protect everyone\'s human rights.

I thoroughly enjoyed walking round the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg with Judge Albie Sachs… he knew the history and background of every piece of art and every detail of how carefully the Constitutional Court had been designed. I left elated.
